Parenting with Perspective
Real-talk psychotherapy and educational parenting support that offers sessions for you (single or co-parents) to learn about how your family is functioning, understanding your role in your child’s mental health, and what steps you can take to increase the health of your home dynamic.
So your child is in therapy - now what?! You are the biggest support and influence in your child’s life. It can be very impactful for you to learn methods of supporting your child in ways that will help them feel understood, heal, and build self-confidence and resiliency.
This series starts with the basics. You can expect to learn about the inner workings of family dynamics, how behaviours such as self-harm, anxiety, or bullying may arise for a child, how to balance holding a child accountable for their behaviours- while also showing compassion. And what all of this has to do with your child’s, and maybe your own, mental health!
Our hope is that as you move through this series of psychoeducational sessions, you will gain confidence in parenting a child who experiences mental health challenges.
These sessions are offered to individual or co-parents and provide a comfortable space for you to talk about the challenges that you may be facing as a parent(s).
Each session will include time for you to reflect and gain support, as well as an educational component covering topics such as;
what are common family dynamics
how to shift the atmosphere in your home
how to respond effectively to your child’s meltdowns… and more!
This series of sessions has been designed to provide you with tangible and approachable methods of supporting the mental health of your children. We encourage you to view this series as an education and/or therapeutic opportunity for yourselves- possibly leading you to parent with a broader perspective.
